The Flag Memorial


The Flag Memorial, is a monument built near the shore of the Paraná River. It was inaugurated on 1957-06-20, the anniversary of the death of Manuel Belgrano, creator of the Argentinian flag.
The complex has a total area of about 10,000 square metres, and was built using stone from the Andes.
It has three parts: the Tower, 70 metres high, which commemorates the Revolution of May 1810 and houses Manuel Belgrano's crypt in its base; the Civic Courtyard, which symbolizes the effort of the organization of the state, and the Triumphal Propylaeum, representing the Nation as organized after the 1853 Constitution. Under the Propylaeum there is the Honour Room for the Flags of America.
The “Flag Memorial” is situated in Rosario and it is a historical building. It is in the “National Flag Park”, where the general Manuel Belgrano put the Argentina flag for the first time, in 27 de February of 1812, near the Parana River.
It was designed by Angel Guido and Alejandro Bustillo. It has a towel which is 70 m. high.
In this monument, there is the “Patio Civico”, the “Propileo” and in the first ground it is the “Sala de Honor de las Banderas de America”
